Disposing of Old Medications

Please put medications that you need to discard into leak proof plastic containers (for example old bottles).  
Do not flush them down the toilet or into the water system.

We are becoming more and more concerned about medications showing up in our water supplies.  Medications which are flushed down the toilet go through the sewage treatment plant and then are emptied either into ground water systems or into lakes and rivers.  These in turn can pollute the environment and contaminate our drinking water with medications that we do not want to be exposed to.  Please protect the environment by disposing of medications into the landfill by putting them into containers which will not leak.
