Mary F. Howson, M.D., earned both undergraduate and masters degrees in botany.  Her undergraduate degree was from St. Andrews University in Scotland, and her masters from the University of Toronto.  She went on to medical school at the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada, earning her MD degree in 1987, and she completed her Family Medicine residency training in 1989 at the University of Ottawa as well.  She practiced medicine in a large, sixty-seven member multispecialty group in Oshawa, Ontario for seven years, and came to Tompkins County in 1996.  Here she was in practice with Dr. Neil Taylor, and continued solo in that practice in the same location following his retirement.  She joined Dryden Family Medicine in March 2006.  The continuity of care that the broad spectrum of family practice encourages is what draws her to the specialty of Family Medicine, and she particularly enjoys caring for all members of multigenerational families.
