Prescriptions for Over-the-Counter (“OTC”) Medications
We are aware that Flex accounts (also known as “cafeteria plans”) and Health Savings Accounts (“HSA’s”) require prescriptions in order for you to be reimbursed for over-the-counter medications. Due to the volume of prescription medication that we must already handle every day, and due to the fact that we do not recommend many of the supplements which are sold as OTC medications, we have decided that we will not be able to write prescriptions for over-the-counter medications. The only exception will be the few OTC medications which our practitioners recommend you take (e.g. calcium, vitamin D, aspirin for heart disease, etc). We will write prescriptions for these items if you need one in order to be reimbursed from your Flex or Health Savings Account. Please do not ask us to write prescriptions for other items. Thank you for your understanding.
